Composite gates, built on steel

Composite is a popular choice for driveway gates, and it's easy to see why. You get the warm, boarded look of timber, and the boards won't rot, won't warp and hold their colour. A wash down is the whole maintenance routine.

The bit you can't see matters most. We build every composite gate on a welded steel frame, not a composite one. The frame carries the weight, keeps the gate square and takes the motors if you want it electric.

Matching side and garden gates

Most driveway jobs come with a side gate or a garden gate that wants to match. We make those in the same boards and the same frame, so the front of the house reads as one job.

Side and garden gates have a shorter lead time than driveway gates, typically three to four weeks. A composite side gate starts from £1,950, fitted with VAT included.

Wakefield gate questions

Do you install gates in Wakefield?

Yes. We fit across Wakefield and the towns around it, from our workshop in Scholes, Leeds.

Do you cover Pontefract, Castleford, Ossett and Normanton?

Yes. We fit across West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, the East Riding and South Yorkshire, so Pontefract, Castleford, Ossett and Normanton are all inside our patch. The survey and the quote are free. If you're near the edge of it, ring 0113 414 1353 and we'll tell you straight.

Are composite gates strong enough to automate?

Ours are, because the strength is in the welded steel frame underneath the boards. A composite gate from us takes Nice or DEA automation the same way a metal gate does.

How long from quote to fitting?

Most gates take eight to twelve weeks from approved drawings to fitting. That covers the design, the build in our Leeds workshop and the powder coating. Side and garden gates are quicker, typically three to four weeks. We confirm your fitting date with the quote.

Do you offer finance?

Yes. 0% APR over 12 or 24 months through Ideal4Finance. Finance needs a 50% deposit, and the rest is spread over the term you pick.

How our gate finance works
Do I need planning permission for driveway gates?

Usually not. As a general guide you need it if the gate is over 1 metre high next to a road or footpath, over 2 metres high anywhere else, or at a listed building. Conservation areas can add their own rules. If in doubt, check with Wakefield Council before you order. We can draw the gate to whatever height works.
