Metalwork is what this workshop was built on. A wrought iron gate can be made to almost any design, which is exactly why it suits period and stone properties where a standard panel would look wrong.

The part that decides how long it lasts is the finish. We hot-dip galvanise and then powder-coat, so the steel is protected from the inside out rather than just painted over. That is the difference between a gate that looks tired in five years and one that still looks right in twenty.

We can match new ironwork to existing railings or to a neighbouring property, and we make pedestrian gates, side gates and matching railings as part of the same job, in the same finish, so the frontage reads as one piece of work rather than three.

Frequently asked

What is the difference between wrought iron and mild steel gates?
In practice most modern gates described as wrought iron are made from mild steel worked in the traditional style, which is stronger and more consistent than historic wrought iron and takes a better finish. We will talk you through what we are proposing and why, and neither is a compromise.
Will a metal gate rust?
Not if it is finished properly. We hot-dip galvanise and then powder-coat, which protects the steel from within rather than sitting on the surface. A painted gate that has not been galvanised will start to bleed rust at the welds within a few years, and that is the corner most people cut.
Can you match our existing railings?
Usually, yes. Bring us a photograph and a couple of measurements, or we will take them at the survey. Matching a new gate into existing ironwork, or making railings to match a new gate, is routine work for us.
Can wrought iron gates be automated?
Yes, and metal gates are the most straightforward to automate because the frame is already doing the structural work. We fit Nice and DEA systems, which we are accredited to install and service.
